The Architecture of Quiet & Memory

As a visual artist, I am particularly interested in individual memory, specifically in its blanks, duality, and otherness. Deeply inspired by empty spaces and the unsaid, I translate them in more or less implicit ways, attempting to give form to absence.

This unknown “you” has many faces — or fragments of these — and from this autobiographical nature emerge fiction, doubt. Through a rigorous and meditative drawing practice, I investigate the shifting boundaries between remembrance and erasure, presence and disappearance.

The Architecture of Quiet & Interstitial Spaces

Far from mere emptiness or a failure of memory, blank spaces constitute in my work an essential and active medium. The un-drawn surface becomes an inviting sanctuary for contemplation, a quiet breath where inner resonances can settle. Each composition is conceived as a delicate dialogue between the darkness of the mark and the clarity of the paper, revealing the emotional weight of what remains unspoken.

Pointillism: The Patience of Gesture & Accumulation

Archival ink stippling represents the meditative cornerstone of my practice. Through hundreds of thousands of micro-dots patiently applied one by one, the image slowly emerges from the paper, like memory gradually crystallising into form. This deliberate and exacting discipline imparts a vibrant density and an almost tactile softness to the textures, where every shadow is born of suspended light.

Intaglio Etching & the Tangible Trace

Alongside drawing, engraving enables me to incise form directly into the plate. The furrowed line, the delicate burr holding deep black ink, and the pressure of the press permanently fix the transient on paper. Each impression, pulled in strictly limited editions, perpetuates an enduring quest for nuance, depth, and archival longevity.
